Lady Starlight

Born Colleen Martin in New York in 1975 and raised in upstate New York, Lady Starlight moved to New York City in the early 2000s and initially developed a stage presence that combined DJ sets, performance and club culture. She emerged on the New York underground scene in the late 2000s, notably alongside Lady Gaga, with whom she co-hosted the New York Street Revival and Trash Dance nights and later the stage project Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue, presented among others at Lollapalooza in 2007. After that period, Lady Starlight refocused her work on a stricter electronic aesthetic oriented toward dark, frontal and industrial techno, nourished by EBM textures and a deliberately stripped-down live approach. She also performs with Surgeon, in a dialogue between improvisation and rhythmic tension, and appears on European and American techno stages. Her discography includes the single Operator (2014), the EP Untitled (2017), Which One of Us Is Me? (2018), then W (2019) and 3 Days From May (2020) — releases that extend a dry, physical and minimal universe.
