Mr Raoul K

Settled in Germany after growing up in the Ivory Coast, Mr Raoul K has been developing since the 2000s an approach to electronic music nourished both by West African rhythms and by European forms of house and techno. A producer and DJ, he founded the label Baobab Music in 2007, which became the main outlet for his releases and an aesthetic blending organic percussion, supple basslines, African vocal motifs and a progressive, club-derived structure. In his productions as well as in his sets, Mr Raoul K makes afrobeat, deep house and techno coexist with a strong sense of groove and repetitive textures. His early releases circulated through European house networks and led him to perform in clubs and on stages across Europe and beyond. His career is thus built between production activity, label work and a regular presence on the international electronic scene, in a constant dialogue between African heritage and DJ culture.
