Floyd Lavine

Between South Africa and Berlin, Floyd Lavine develops an approach to electronic music consistently linked to contemporary African aesthetics. As a DJ, producer and event organizer, he operates across a spectrum from afro house to techno and deep house, with a pronounced focus on percussion, voices and slowly unfolding atmospheres. Having spent several years in Germany while remaining connected to the South African scene, he has embedded himself in the European club network and notably participates in the RISE movement in Berlin, where he refines a dancefloor-oriented sound that remains attentive to storytelling and harmonic tension. Through the release of maxis and EPs on various labels and via his own project Afrikan Tales, Floyd Lavine has multiplied collaborations with singers, instrumentalists and producers from African and diasporic scenes. His sets and productions emphasize repetitive structures, dense basslines and regular use of vocal textures, placing him at the meeting point of club culture, African heritage and European electronic music.
