Zombie Zombie
Formed in 2006 around Étienne Jaumet and Cosmic Neman, who met at Mains d’Œuvres in Saint-Ouen, Zombie Zombie is part of a French scene that intersects krautrock, electronica, minimal house and psychedelia. Jaumet, formerly of The Married Monk, and Neman, drummer for Herman Düne, initially built Zombie Zombie as a duo of drums, saxophone, keyboards and vocals, with a marked taste for repetitive motifs, dark soundscapes and motorik pulses; on stage the project later expanded with Doc Shonberg. After a first EP in 2006, Zombie Zombie released A Land for Renegades in 2008, then the EP Zombie Zombie Plays John Carpenter in 2010, which highlights their connection to film music and continues a series of cine-concerts around Battleship Potemkin (Le Cuirassé Potemkine) and the films of Jean Painlevé. Rituels d’un nouveau monde appeared in 2012 and opened their music to percussion and textures inspired by a trip to South America, without abandoning the band's hypnotic backbone. Subsequent releases include Livity in 2017 and Vae Vobis in 2022, while Zombie Zombie has also composed several film soundtracks, including Loubia Hamra (2014), Irréprochable (2016) and L’Heure de la sortie (2019). In 2025, Zombie Zombie added Funk Kraut to their discography.
