Young Marco

Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Young Marco — the stage name of Marco Sterk — has been part of the Dutch electronic scene since the late 2000s with a practice that links house, techno, disco, ambient, balearic and more leftfield forms. His productions rely more on moods than on effects: supple grooves, hazy melodies and a sense of collage, with equal attention paid to both the club and attentive listening. After his first records in the early 2010s, Young Marco released 'Biology' in 2011 and put out further releases on labels such as Rush Hour and ESP Institute, while developing a DJ career noted for wide-ranging, cross-sectional selections. This circulation between reissues, dance-oriented material and more atmospheric pieces continues with Safe Trip, a label associated with Young Marco and based in Amsterdam, which highlights another side of his work. Over the years Young Marco has expanded his musical language into a broad spectrum where Italo, slow house, melodic trance and dreamy electronics coexist — both in clubs and on festival stages.
