Wanda
Trained in Vienna in 2012, Wanda belongs to a lineage of rock and pop sung in German where indie rock, rock’n’roll and Austropop intersect. The band drew attention with Amore in 2014, then followed with Bussi in 2015, Niente in 2017, Ciao! in 2019, Wanda in 2022 and Ende nie in 2024. Around Marco Wanda on vocals and rhythm guitar, the group has built a direct, melodic and nerve-wracking sound, propelled by frank choruses, very prominent guitars and lyrics about desire, breakup, daily life and romantic relationships, often with a marked Viennese grounding in language and imagery. Wanda toured from its early days in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, moving from clubs to large venues and festivals. The band's history was also marked by several personnel changes, notably in the drummer position, as well as by the death of keyboardist Christian Hummer in 2022, an event that shaped the period surrounding the Wanda album. With Ende nie, Wanda continues a trajectory where on-stage rock, sentimental pop and a direct writing style remain at the core of its identity.
