Valley

In Toronto, the quartet Valley brings together Rob Laska, Michael “Mickey” Brandolino, Alex Dimauro and Karah James. The band formed in the mid‑2010s after two groups happened to meet in a rehearsal studio. Rooted in a North American indie pop scene influenced by 2000s pop rock, Valley has developed a melodic, luminous sound where chiming guitars, understated synths and supple rhythms support lyrics about friendship, the early stages of adulthood and the grey areas of romantic relationships. Early releases, including the EP Car Test (2015), gradually established Valley within the Canadian indie landscape, before subsequent projects refined the band’s songwriting and taste for immediate, memorable choruses. The album Maybe (2019), which united parts of a two‑part project, marked a significant step in organizing their discography and paved the way for more regular touring across Canada and the United States. Shared lead vocals between Rob Laska and Karah James, careful vocal arrangements and an accessible pop energy remain at the core of Valley’s sonic identity, both in the studio and on stage.
