Umwelt

Umwelt is a French producer and DJ from Lyon, active since the early 1990s. A discreet but essential figure on the independent electronic scene, he developed an early interest in alternative electronic music and began releasing his first tracks in the mid‑1990s. In 2000 he founded New Flesh Records and in 2011 Rave Or Die, two labels that have become important platforms for artists working within radical electronic aesthetics and physical formats. Over the years Umwelt has released numerous projects, maxi singles and collaborations, while maintaining a handcrafted approach focused on independence and artistic coherence. His catalogue, issued on his own labels as well as on other specialised outlets, attests to a long-standing presence at the heart of the French electronic scene. Remaining faithful to a demanding vision, Umwelt continues to work steadily on production, label direction and live activities, consolidating a trajectory defined by consistency and commitment to underground electronic cultures.
