Daniel Stefanik

Born in 1979 in Großenhain, Germany, Daniel Stefanik initially develops a practice on drums before turning to electronic music in the mid-1990s. Settled later in Leipzig, he enters a local scene marked by minimal house and techno, while maintaining a clear affinity for the textures of Detroit techno. Daniel Stefanik makes his first DJ steps in clubs such as Tresor in Berlin or Strasse E in Dresden, then becomes a resident at Leipzig’s Distillery and at Zooma in Plauen. On the production side, his early work appears in the early 2000s, notably with Matthias Tanzmann under the name Tanzmann und Stefanik on Moon Harbour Recordings. His solo discography then organizes around several albums, including Silent Whisper in 2005, Reactivity in 2008, Confidence in 2012 on Cocoon Recordings and Genesis in 2014 on Statik Entertainment. His career links him to various labels in the European house and techno scene, from Moon Harbour to Cocoon, via Kann, Freude am Tanzen or Mobilee. In his sets as in his productions, Daniel Stefanik works a balance between groove house, minimal structures and techno impulse, with a supple, detailed sound centered on rhythm.
