Tomas Ledin

Born in 1952 in Rätan, Jämtland, and raised between Hölö and Sandviken, Tomas Ledin established himself in the early 1970s as a songwriter, composer, performer and producer within Swedish pop-rock. He made his record debut with Restless Mind in 1972 and developed a melodic style alternating between Swedish and English, featuring straightforward pop formats, a light rock grounding and a recurring place for the ballad. After several appearances at Melodifestivalen in the 1970s, he won the 1980 edition with Just nu! and represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest that year. Between 1979 and 1980 he also accompanied ABBA on their world tour, contributing to the backing vocals and performing Not Bad at All as a solo. His discography passes through several phases — from Gränslös (1982) and Tillfälligheternas spel (1990) to Hela vägen (2002) and Höga kusten (2013) — with a sound that remains centered on songs, clear choruses and mature pop production. In 1991 Ledin also launched Rocktåget, a Swedish summer tour bringing together multiple artists, which extended his regular stage presence since the 1970s.
