Twin Shadow
Born in Saint-Domingue in the Dominican Republic as George Lewis Jr., raised in Florida before settling in Boston and Brooklyn, Twin Shadow has developed since the late 2000s a project that sits between synth-pop, new wave, indie pop and pop rock. Characterized by a supple, melodic vocal style, 1980s-derived textures and songwriting often marked by soul and R&B, his sound has evolved over time. After a stint with the band Mad Man Films, Twin Shadow emerged as a solo artist with Forget in 2010, produced by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, and followed with Confess in 2012, where his approach became more direct and brighter. Eclipse (2015) accentuated this pop orientation, before Caer (2018) opened a new chapter, notably with the single "Saturdays" featuring Haim. Over the years he has also released numerous remixes, collaborations and appearances across stages from indie rock to electronic pop, with notable exchanges with Flume, Zeds Dead and Haim. The album Twin Shadow, released in 2021, re-centers the project around soul and punk influences and makes more explicit references to his Dominican roots, already perceptible in "Hollow Days".
