Wild Nothing
Led by American musician Jack Tatum, Wild Nothing operates in an indie rock and dream pop vein, drawing on new wave and jangle pop references. Originating in the late 2000s in Blacksburg, Virginia, the project gained attention with the largely self-recorded 2010 album Gemini, where chiming guitars and melodic motifs combine with hushed vocals. Wild Nothing refined that aesthetic on Nocturne (2012), which emphasized pop structures and tighter arrangements, then explored a broader, more textured palette with the Empty Estate EP (2013). The release of Life of Pause (2016) signaled a move toward more sophisticated sounds, incorporating soul and psychedelic influences, while Indigo (2018) accentuated the synth-pop dimension and an ’80s-inspired atmosphere. With Hold (2023), Wild Nothing continued this evolution, balancing introspective ballads and more rhythmic tracks while keeping songwriting centered on melody. On stage, Wild Nothing appears as a band centered on Jack Tatum, allowing a repertoire built between studio intimacy and collective energy to be translated into live performances.
