The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band

Formed in Brown County, Indiana, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has operated since the mid-2000s in a country-blues and American roots idiom where rural blues, gospel, folk and stripped-down rock’n’roll intersect. The trio revolves around Reverend Peyton on vocals and guitar, Washboard Breezy Peyton on percussion and backing vocals, and currently Jacob Powell on drums. Their music is built on a pronounced fingerpicking guitar style, a direct sense of groove and deliberately simple instrumentation that evokes older blues forms without attempting to recreate them. After an initial independent period, the band toured the United States, Canada and Europe, playing stages ranging from clubs to major festivals. Their discography includes The Wages (2010), Peyton on Patton (2011), devoted to Charley Patton’s repertoire, Between the Ditches (2012), So Delicious (2015), The Front Porch Sessions (2017), Poor Until Payday (2018), Dance Songs for Hard Times (2021) and Honeysuckle (2025). Over the years The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has maintained a very physical, upfront approach to the blues, balancing Southern US tradition, touring energy and songwriting rooted in American roots music.
