Scott H. Biram

Based in Austin, Texas, Scott H. Biram has been developing a singular solo approach to American roots music since the late 1990s. Born in Texas and raised in a rural environment, Biram draws on a repertoire that blends Delta blues, country, gospel, primitive rock’n’roll and an energy close to punk and metal. After starting out in various local bands, he moved to a one‑man band format, performing solo sets that mix stripped‑down ballads with more abrasive tracks. Spotted by the independent label Bloodshot Records, he released The Dirty Old One Man Band there in 2004, followed by Graveyard Shift (2006), Something’s Wrong / Lost Forever (2009), Bad Ingredients (2011), Nothin’ But Blood (2014), The Bad Testament (2017), the themed compilation Sold Out to the Devil: A Collection of Gospel Cuts by the Rev. Scott H. Biram (2019), and Fever Dreams (2020). Biram’s recordings, often marked by an intentionally raw, unpolished sound, alternate between covers of old folk and gospel standards and original compositions, while his regular tours in the United States and Europe have anchored him in the independent rock, americana and alternative blues circuits.
