The Garden
Formed in 2011 in Orange County, California, The Garden brings together twin brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears in a duo format that blends post‑punk, garage rock, experimental punk and electronic flourishes into often short, angular and volatile tracks. The Garden initially grew within a DIY framework, releasing several EPs before issuing the album The Life and Times of a Paperclip in 2013 and Haha in 2015, the latter appearing after the band signed to Epitaph. From that point the band refined a more jagged, hybrid aesthetic in which bass, drums, guitars and synthetic textures coexist with shouted vocals, staccato rhythms and songwriting that borrows as much from punk as from a kind of pop collage and absurdism. Mirror Might Steal Your Charm (2018) and Kiss My Super Bowl Ring (2020), the latter produced in part with Dylan Brady and James Bould, continued this evolution. The Garden has also circulated through punk and alternative venues and festivals in the US and Europe, including a support tour for Mac DeMarco in 2017 and an appearance at Coachella in 2019. In parallel, Wyatt and Fletcher Shears develop their solo projects Enjoy and Puzzle, linked to the same creative universe often summarized by the term Vada Vada.
