The Funeral Portrait

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, The Funeral Portrait formed in the mid-2010s in a scene where alternative rock, emo and post-hardcore intersect. The Funeral Portrait's music blends taut guitars, melodic hooks, post-hardcore tension and a dark aesthetic close to theatrical and gothic rock, while remaining grounded in straightforward songcraft. Initially active on Atlanta’s indie circuit, the band moved onto American rock tours and shifted toward a more pronounced modern hard rock approach without abandoning its emo roots. After several EPs and singles, The Funeral Portrait released the album Greetings From Suffocate City in 2024. Among recent collaborations, the track "Suffocate City" with Spencer Charnas illustrates this exchange between different scenes, at the crossroads of contemporary alternative rock, post-hardcore and the macabre imagery that frequently features in the band's universe.
