The Wytches

The Wytches formed in Peterborough in 2011 before settling in Brighton. The band initially revolved around Kristian Bell, Gianni Honey and Daniel Rumsey, and has since evolved into a lineup centered on Bell, Rumsey, Mark Breed and Bhavin Thaker. The Wytches craft tense, hazy rock that blends garage rock, surf rock, psychedelia and post‑punk, with abrasive guitars, nervous rhythms and a darkly melodic thread that remains clear within often direct song forms. After the early singles “Beehive Queen” and “Robe for Juda” in 2013, they released their debut album Annabel Dream Reader in 2014, co‑produced by Bill Ryder‑Jones, and followed with All Your Happy Life in 2016, which pushed further the balance between raw energy and unsettling atmospheres. The group then underwent lineup and label changes, returned to independent status with Three Mile Ditch in 2020, and continued that trajectory with Our Guest Can’t Be Named in 2023. The EP Replica appeared in 2024 and Talking Machine in 2025. From the start, The Wytches have moved between indie rock, garage and post‑punk scenes while maintaining a compact, rough and often oblique sonic identity.
