The East Pointers

A folk trio from Prince Edward Island, Canada, The East Pointers originally brought together cousins Koady and Tim Chaisson with guitarist Jake Charron around a repertoire that blends Maritime Celtic music, contemporary folk, and pop touches. With their debut Secret Victory (2015), the band quickly made its mark on festival stages across Canada, Australia, and the UK, with a fiddle-, banjo-, and guitar-driven sound that alternates between instrumental sets and songs. The 2017 album What We Leave Behind deepened the fusion of island tradition and modern songwriting, while 2019’s Yours To Break ventured further into pop structures and more electronic atmospheres without abandoning the reels and jigs that define the group. The East Pointers’ lyrics reflect the everyday life of coastal communities, family ties, and more intimate themes, in English colored by Canada’s maritime context. Following Koady Chaisson’s passing in 2022, The East Pointers reconfigured their lineup and continue to bring this hybrid repertoire to the stage—between traditional dance music and folk songwriting—occasionally collaborating with other musicians from the Canadian roots and indie scenes.
