The Early November
Formed in the early 2000s in Hammonton, New Jersey, The Early November emerged with the North American emo and alternative-rock wave then championed by Drive-Thru Records. Led by singer-guitarist Arthur 'Ace' Enders, the band developed a sound blending emo, pop punk and indie rock, built around melodic guitars, dynamics between quiet passages and rougher bursts, and introspective lyrics. After the EP 'For All of This' in 2002, The Early November released their debut album 'The Room's Too Cold' in 2003, then the triple-concept album 'The Mother, the Mechanic, and the Path' in 2006, which juxtaposes rock, acoustic tracks and narrative sections. Present on early-2000s US tours, including the Warped Tour, the band went on hiatus in 2007 before reforming in 2011 with a core centered on Ace Enders, Sergio Anello and Jeff Kummer. The comeback materialized with 'In Currents' in 2012, followed by 'Imbue' in 2015 and 'Lilac' in 2019, which continued the balance between rock energy and more stripped-back ballads. The Early November then marked their twentieth anniversary with 'Twenty' in 2022, combining new recordings and reinterpretations of older songs, and released a self-titled album, 'The Early November', in 2024, confirming the continuity of a project that has remained tied to the American emo and alternative scene.
