Spitalfield

Formed in Chicago in 1998, Spitalfield is part of the American emo, pop-punk and alternative rock scene of the early 2000s, with a sound built on melodic guitars, direct choruses and songwriting focused on relationships, the wear of everyday life and introspection. The band, now centered on Mark Rose, T.J. Minich, Daniel Lowder and Drew Brown, first released the EP Capture the Moment in 1998, then the album Faster Crashes Harder in 2001 and The Cloak & Dagger Club EP in 2002, the latter coinciding with their move to Victory Records. Spitalfield broadened its audience with Remember Right Now in 2003, then followed with Stop Doing Bad Things in 2005 and Better than Knowing Where You Are in 2006. Straddling nervous pop-punk and more melodic emo, Spitalfield operated within the American indie rock circuit while retaining an identity closely tied to Chicago. After a breakup announced in 2007, they reformed sporadically for several concerts throughout the 2010s and 2020s. In 2025, Spitalfield released the single Remembering Right Now and the EP Play + Record, their first new releases in many years.
