Saves The Day
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Saves the Day took shape in the mid-1990s under the name Sefler before adopting its current name in 1997. Led from the start by Chris Conley— the only constant member through numerous lineup changes—the band initially operated in a vein of melodic hardcore, punk rock and pop-punk, with a fast, tense sound on Can't Slow Down (1998) and Through Being Cool (1999). Saves the Day then broadened its songwriting with Stay What You Are (2001), a turning-point album that moved the band toward a more melodic emo, featuring more open choruses and more developed guitar arrangements. That evolution continued on In Reverie (2003), where the band embraced a more pop-oriented and introspective approach, before returning to edgier textures on Sound the Alarm (2006) and Under the Boards (2007), two parts of a cycle later completed by Daybreak (2011). The subsequent releases, including Saves the Day (2013) and 9 (2018), confirm a trajectory marked by internal changes but also by a continuity of writing around American emo and alternative rock. Active on punk and indie stages since the late 1990s, Saves the Day has crossed paths with groups like Say Anything, while Chris Conley has simultaneously led the project Two Tongues.
