Teddy Thompson
Born in London in 1976, Teddy Thompson grew up immersed in British folk rock as the son of Richard and Linda Thompson. Later based in Los Angeles, he developed from the 1990s a career split between the English scene and American Americana — first as a musician and vocalist alongside his father on several late‑decade recordings, and later helping revive his mother's career by co‑producing Fashionably Late in 2002. His repertoire blends folk, folk rock, country and alt‑country, with a songwriter's focus on melody, spare arrangements and a strong affinity for American country tradition. Thompson released his self‑titled debut in 2000, followed by Separate Ways (2005), Upfront & Down Low (2007), A Piece of What You Need (2008) and Bella (2011). He also took part in the family project Thompson on the album Family (2014), recorded Little Windows with Kelly Jones (2016) and Heartbreaker Please (2020). In 2023 he issued My Love of Country and Once More with Jenni Muldaur. Over his career he has collaborated with Rufus and Martha Wainwright and Rosanne Cash, working in styles ranging from folk song and chamber pop to classic country.
