Rodney Crowell
Rodney Crowell is an American singer-songwriter and producer, a respected figure in country and Americana. Born in Texas, he started out as a guitarist in Emmylou Harris's Hot Band in the 1970s, where his songwriting began to attract attention. His solo career really took off in the 1980s with the album Diamonds & Dirt, which placed five consecutive singles at the top of the country charts — a record at the time.
A sensitive writer and precise storyteller, he blurs the lines between country, folk and rock with a pen that sketches intimate stories, portraits of bruised lives and a discreet humour. At the same time he has written for other major artists such as Johnny Cash, Keith Urban, Waylon Jennings and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Still active, Rodney Crowell continues to record and tour, cultivating an elegant, mature music carried by a restrained voice and songwriting that hits the mark. A quiet but essential pillar of American music.
