Spencer Brown

Born in Los Gatos, California, and associated with the San Francisco scene, Spencer Brown has since the mid-2010s built a career focused on club electronic music, straddling progressive house, deep house and melodic techno. He began producing at a young age and later caught the attention of Avicii, who released his EP Chalice / Double Down in 2014 on LE7ELS; that initial step also led to opening slots on North American tour dates. Subsequently, Spencer Brown became a fixture within the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep spheres while expanding his reach to labels such as Bedrock, Factory 93, Global Underground and mau5trap. His work is notable for continuous, narrative formats conceived as cohesive, mixed bodies of work rather than a sequence of isolated tracks, as heard on Illusion of Perfection (2018), Stream of Consciousness (2020) and Equanimity (2023). In both his productions and his sets, he favors slow progressions, supple basslines, precise melodic motifs and a rhythmic tension that draws from both house and techno. Over the years he has also collaborated with Above & Beyond, Qrion, Ben Böhmer, ilan Bluestone, John Digweed and Mat Zo, and he launched his own label, diviine, in 2022.
