Slaughter

Formed in the late 1980s in Las Vegas, Nevada, Slaughter emerged from the coming together of singer‑guitarist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum after their stint in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Associated with the glam metal and melodic hard rock movements, the band developed a sound built around Mark Slaughter’s high vocals, prominent guitars and radio‑friendly, FM‑styled choruses. The first era was defined by the studio albums Stick It to Ya (1990) and The Wild Life (1992), which established Slaughter on the American hard rock scene, before a phase reflecting changes in the rock market with Fear No Evil (1995) and Revolution (1997), where the band at times adopted a harder approach while retaining a melodic core. The death of guitarist Tim Kelly in 1998 prompted a reorganization around Mark Slaughter, Dana Strum and guitarist Jeff Blando, culminating in Back to Reality (1999). Alongside live and compilation releases, Slaughter has sustained itself primarily through live activity, appearing on tours and festivals dedicated to 1980s–1990s hard rock and glam metal and continuing to perform this repertoire in the United States and internationally.
