Warrant
Formed in the mid-1980s in Hollywood, California, Warrant was part of the glam metal wave that emerged on the Sunset Strip, centered on a core led by guitarist Erik Turner and, soon after, singer Jani Lane. By the end of the decade the band established a melodic hard rock style driven by catchy choruses, prominent guitars and vocal harmonies, distilled on the album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989) and then Cherry Pie (1990), where up-tempo tracks and more formulaic ballads coexisted. In the early 1990s Warrant slightly toughened its sound and addressed darker themes on Dog Eat Dog (1992), before exploring more alternative rock colors on Ultraphobic (1995) and Belly to Belly (1996), at a time when glam metal was in decline. Marked by singer changes, hiatuses and reunions, the band returned to an aesthetic closer to its origins with Born Again (2006), and later with Rockaholic (2011) and Louder Harder Faster (2017), recorded with Robert Mason on vocals. Active mainly on stage between North America and Europe, Warrant favors a setlist that mixes the emblematic songs of the late 1980s and early 1990s with more recent compositions, remaining focused on a direct, melody-driven, guitar-oriented hard rock.
