Sidiki Diabaté
Born in Bamako in 1992, Sidiki Diabaté belongs to a lineage of griots and Mandingue musicians: he is the son of kora player Toumani Diabaté and the grandson of Sidiki Diabaté. Trained on the kora from an early age, Sidiki Diabaté initially developed a style rooted in Malian tradition before broadening his repertoire to a Mandingue pop open to Afro rhythms and West African urban productions. His career has taken shape as an instrumentalist, singer and producer, with a notable acoustic phase on the album Toumani & Sidiki (2014), recorded with his father. Over the years he has steered his music toward more direct formats focused on voice, melodies and danceable arrangements, while maintaining the place of the kora—sometimes highlighted, sometimes integrated into a more contemporary aesthetic. Highly present on stages in West Africa, in France and in francophone diasporas, Sidiki Diabaté moves between concerts, Malian popular music and collaborations with rap and regional afropop artists.
