Born in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1997, Innoss’B, whose real name is Innocent Balume, belongs to the lineage of Congolese urban music, blending afrobeats, modern rumba, ndombolo and hip‑hop influences. Coming from a family of musicians and initially active in a family group, he was noticed at a young age on the local scene and won the Vodacom Superstar talent show in 2010, which led to a collaboration with Akon on the track “Up and Away” in 2012. Later firmly established in Kinshasa’s music landscape, Innoss’B developed a rhythmic afro‑congo style marked by a strong vocal presence and choruses sung in Lingala, Swahili, French and English. His debut album “Innocent Vol. 1” was released in 2018 and set the foundations for this hybrid identity between urban pop and Congolese heritage, followed by “Leopard” in 2020, which further opened toward afrobeats and the East African scene, notably through a high‑profile collaboration with Diamond Platnumz. Alternating between danceable singles and more melodic songs, Innoss’B has since toured across Africa and the diaspora, consolidating his position at the crossroads of Congolese popular music and contemporary afro‑pop currents.
