Charlotte Dipanda
Born in Douala in 1985 and raised in Cameroon, Charlotte Dipanda is part of the afro-pop and African folk scene, building a repertoire rooted in the languages and rhythms of her country. Discovered after early beginnings in choirs in Yaoundé, she settled in France in the early 2000s, where she worked as a backing vocalist for various Central African artists before launching a solo career. Her debut album, "Mispa" (2008), produced by Lokua Kanza, established the basis for an intimate songwriting style that mixes acoustic ballads with makossa and bikutsi influences. With "Dube L’am" (2012) and "Massa" (2015), Charlotte Dipanda broadened her palette toward a more arranged afro-pop while retaining an acoustic core and often introspective lyrics. "Un jour dans ma vie" (2018) continues the alternation between slow, voice-led songs and more rhythmic tracks. Between Cameroon and Europe, Charlotte Dipanda performs both in acoustic settings and with a band, on world music stages and at African festivals.
