Jeremy Loops

Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Jeremy Loops develops a project situated between folk, pop and reggae influences, with vocal loops and rhythmic motifs at its core. Born in 1984 in Kommetjie, he began writing his first songs during long periods at sea before becoming known on the South African scene in the early 2010s, initially through solo shows and later with a backing band. His debut studio album Trading Change (2014) established a sound blending acoustic guitar, choral refrains and touches of hip hop, notably through the recurring presence of rapper Motheo Moleko. Critical as Water (2018) puts greater emphasis on environmental and water‑related themes, reflecting Jeremy Loops’ involvement in the reforestation organisation Greenpop, which he co‑founded, while Heard You Got Love (2022) explores more contemporary pop and more produced arrangements. On stage he tours South Africa, Europe and North America, moving from clubs to festivals, with concerts constructed from successive layers of voice, guitar and percussion that recreate live the loop‑based compositional work at the heart of his musical identity.
