Seamus Haji

Born in Brighton in 1968 and of Indo-Irish descent, Seamus Haji has, since the early 1990s, built a career as a DJ, producer and remixer rooted in British house. He began mixing as a teenager in south London and went on to appear on stages such as Ministry of Sound, Garage City, Hard Times, Back to Basics and Pacha in London, before holding a four-year residency at Pacha Ibiza. His work spans vocal house, soulful house, funk, disco-house and more electro- or tech-house-leaning styles, with a consistent taste for direct grooves and club-ready productions. Under his own name and through aliases like Big Bang Theory, Mekkah, Get This!, Ijah and Haji & Emanuel (with Paul Emanuel), he has issued a variety of formats and collaborations — from 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life' in 2004 to 'Weekend' and 'Take Me Away' in 2005, and 'The Pressure' in 2009 with Beverley Knight and Bryan Chambers. At the same time he has maintained an active remixing career for pop and dance artists, worked in A&R for Slip'n'Slide, Defected and, from 2010, Strictly Rhythm, and developed the Big Love label.
