Roosbeef

Born in Duiven, the Netherlands, Roosbeef formed around Roos Rebergen, a writer-songwriter, singer and keyboardist, in a band configuration whose core has evolved over the years. First spotted in the mid-2000s on the Dutch scene, Roosbeef develops an indie pop in Dutch, infused with folk and a discreet rock vibe, with lyrics-centered songs, supple melodies and a singing style often close to speech. After a self-titled first EP released in 2006, the group released Ze willen wel je hond aaien maar niet met je praten en in 2008, then Omdat ik dat wil in 2011, which extend this direct writing, sometimes offbeat, in sober arrangements. Roosbeef later released the EP Warüm in 2012, followed by Kalf in 2015, released on the Buffel label, then Lucky in 2020 and Zomer in Nederland in 2023. Roosbeef’s path also crosses other Dutch-speaking and Belgian scenes, notably via Tom Pintens, Wannes Cappelle or Sjoerd Bruil, who joined the band on stage and in the studio. Between indie pop, alternative chanson and measured instrumentation, Roosbeef has built a repertoire where everyday observation, light strangeness and the precision of the lyrics occupy a central place.
