Ronnie Flex

Born in Rotterdam in 1992 as Ronell Langston Plasschaert and raised in Capelle aan den IJssel, Ronnie Flex emerged in the early 2010s on the Dutch scene with a blend of nederhop, pop-rap and R&B, where rapped verses sit alongside sung choruses and supple productions marked by trap, dancehall and urban pop. After beginning to produce as a teenager, Ronnie Flex first attracted attention for his work around Gers Pardoel, then signed with Top Notch in 2012. The EP Tankstation was released in 2013, followed by the album De nacht is nog jong, net als wij voor altijd in 2014. His visibility expanded in the mid-2010s through several collaborations, notably with Lil’ Kleine, Frenna and the collective New Wave, in which Ronnie Flex took part in an important moment of renewal in Dutch rap. On stage, Ronnie Flex navigates between mainstream festivals and urban circuits, from Lowlands to Pukkelpop. The album Rémi, released in 2017, and the EP NORI in 2018 continued a more melodic, pop-oriented songwriting, while remaining within the framework of Dutch rap.
