Bokoesam

Born in Amsterdam in 1992 under the name Samuel Sekyere, Bokoesam established himself in the Dutch Nederhop scene with Dutch-language rap that blends hip-hop, urban pop and more melodic formats. Of Ghanaian origin on his father’s side and Dutch on his mother’s, Bokoesam emerged in the early 2010s and quickly drew attention with his early tracks and freestyle appearances, before releasing the EP Nog Nooit Meegemaakt in 2014. His career leads him to both rap-centered tracks and pieces more open to pop and sung choruses, placing Bokoesam at the crossroads of Dutch mainstream rap and a more personal writing style. Over the years, he collaborates with several names from the local scene such as Ronnie Flex, Jonna Fraser, Idaly, Esko, or Famke Louise, with whom he released Vroom in 2017. Bokoesam has also performed on Dutch stages and festivals like Eurosonic Noorderslag, Appelsap, Bevrijdingsfestival, Tivoli and Doornroosje, in a register that alternates club energy, direct rap and more accessible productions.
