Ron Gallo
Born in New Jersey in 1992 and initially active on the Philadelphia scene before settling in Nashville, Ron Gallo has developed since the mid-2010s a rock songwriting approach that shifts between garage punk, post-punk, art rock, lo-fi and indie pop. After fronting the group Toy Soldiers, he launched his solo project with Ronny in 2014 and then honed a more nervous, angular sound on Heavy Meta (2017), where taut guitars, spoken word and catchy melodies coexist. With Stardust Birthday Party (2018) he broadened his palette toward new wave textures and a more introspective approach, before a more pop-oriented turn on Peacemeal (2021), marked by rhythm and blues and 1990s hip-hop influences. Foreground Music, released in 2023 and co-produced with Chiara D’Anzieri, continues this evolution toward looser songwriting without abandoning the abrasive energy of his early work. On stage as in the studio, Ron Gallo alternates between straightforward formats and more off-kilter compositions, and his trajectory has taken him from club circuits to festivals such as SXSW, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and Coachella.
