Bambounou

Paris-based producer and DJ Bambounou has, since the early 2010s, developed a distinctive approach to electronic music informed by his Franco-Malian and Polish background. Emerging from the Paris club scene, he first attracted attention within the ClekClekBoom collective and label before joining 50 Weapons, the imprint run by the duo Modeselektor, where the albums “Orbiting” (2012) and “Centrum” (2015) were released. His music moves between stripped-down techno, UK bass influences and rhythmic experimentation, with a marked taste for broken structures, polyrhythms and well-defined sonic spaces designed as much for dancing as for attentive listening. On stage he builds sets centered on percussive energy and abrupt transitions, performing in clubs and at festivals across Europe and beyond. In the early 2020s he launched the label Bambe, a platform focused on hybrid forms of club music where he issues his own productions and works by artists close to his aesthetic.
