Pete Parkkonen

Born in Pihtipudas, Finland, in 1990, Pete Parkkonen first gained recognition at the end of the 2000s on the fourth season of the show Idols, which launched a career situated between pop and rock. He initially released two English‑language albums, First Album in 2009 and I'm an Accident in 2010, in a straightforward pop‑rock style focused on melodies and a direct vocal delivery. After this initial period he shifted his repertoire to Finnish and released the album Pete Parkkonen in 2014, marking a move toward more overtly pop songwriting while retaining an energy derived from rock. His fourth album, Pete, appeared in 2018. Active on the Finnish pop scene since 2008, Pete Parkkonen has also been a regular presence on several national television programmes, notably Tanssii tähtien kanssa, Tähdet, tähdet and Vain elämää. His career thus outlines a trajectory between pop song, rock accents and an alternation between English‑ and Finnish‑language repertoires.
