Pony Pony Run Run
Formed in the early 2000s in Nantes by brothers Gaëtan and Amaël Réchin Lê Ky-Huong, initially accompanied by keyboardist Antonin Pierre, Pony Pony Run Run belongs to the French indie-pop scene, blending electropop, power pop and synthpop sounds. Hailing from Angers, the band builds an aesthetic around melodic guitars, bright keyboards and primarily English-language vocals, with a songwriting approach favoring short, rhythmic formats. They attracted attention with the album You Need Pony Pony Run Run in 2009, which included the track “Hey You”, and followed up with a self-titled second album, Pony Pony Run Run, in 2012, confirming a more assertive turn toward danceable pop with synthetic arrangements. After Antonin Pierre’s departure, Pony Pony Run Run largely continued as the brothers’ duo, performing concerts, club tours and appearing on festival stages across France and Europe. The 2016 album Voyage Voyage extended this accessible electro-pop aesthetic by alternating between dancefloor-ready tracks and more mid-tempo songs, securing Pony Pony Run Run’s lasting place within francophone pop sung in English.
