Saule
Under the name Saule, singer-songwriter Baptiste Lalieu has been developing since the mid-2000s a French-language songwriting style rooted in pop and folk. Born in Brussels and initially active on the city's music scene, Saule first surrounded himself with the group Les Pleureurs, with whom he built a repertoire combining electric guitars, band dynamics and narrative writing. His trajectory became clearer with the album Western (2009), which introduced broader arrangements and a marked taste for pop formats, and then with Géant (2012), notable for the duet "Dusty Men" recorded with British musician Charlie Winston. Alternating between working with a band and performing solo, Saule went on to tour Belgium, France and the francophone world, playing medium-sized venues and festivals. Saule's songs are based on French lyrics, often focused on human relationships and everyday situations, carried by a slightly raspy voice and direct melodies.
