MISSIO

Formed in Austin, Texas, MISSIO began to take shape in 2014 around Matthew Brue, songwriter, singer and producer. The project became a full duo in 2016 when David Butler, producer and co-writer, joined. Between alternative electronic music, rock tinged with dark pop and atmospheric hip-hop, Missio developed a direct sound built on emphatic rhythms, melodic layers and a frequently foregrounded vocal, with lyrics marked by isolation, addiction and mental health. After Brue's early demos and a notable SXSW appearance, Missio released the EP I Don’t Even Care About You in 2016 and followed with the albums Loner (2017), The Darker the Weather // The Better the Man (2019), Can You Feel the Sun (2020), VILLAIN (2022) and I Am Cinco (2024). Their trajectory also includes the Skeletons EP series and several shorter releases in 2023, which extend a more fragmented, introspective writing approach. Before the duo officially formed, Matthew Brue also collaborated with Said the Sky, and in 2024 Missio released the track 'KING' with Kent Osborne for Fortnite.
