Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds formed in 1983 following the breakup of The Birthday Party, initially centered on Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, and Blixa Bargeld, before the arrival of musicians who would leave a lasting mark on the project, such as Thomas Wydler, Conway Savage, Warren Ellis, and Jim Sclavunos. From the outset, the band has carved out a singular path within independent music, driven by a distinctive writing style and a highly personal approach to storytelling. Their discography begins with From Her to Eternity in 1984 and The Firstborn Is Dead in 1985, laying the foundations for a rich body of work that unfolds with Your Funeral… My Trial in 1986, Tender Prey in 1988, and The Good Son in 1990. The 1990s brought Henry’s Dream (1992), Let Love In (1994), Murder Ballads (1996), and The Boatman’s Call (1997), albums that became essential milestones in their evolution. The band followed with No More Shall We Part (2001), Nocturama (2003), Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus (2004), and Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! (2008), confirming continuous activity and a pronounced appetite for cycles of transformation. In 2013, Push the Sky Away marked the start of a new phase, followed by Skeleton Tree (2016) and Ghosteen (2019), two major works in the band’s recent history. In 2024, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released Wild God, extending a discography now spanning several decades. Active on stage and in the studio, the band remains one of the most enduring of its generation, sustained by long-term collaboration and a unique approach to songwriting, while maintaining the artistic coherence that runs through their entire output.
