Mujeres

Formed in Barcelona in 2007, Mujeres sits in an independent rock vein that blends garage rock, indie rock and power pop, with direct, melodic songs and focused on efficiency. The band grew around musicians who had passed through ESCAC, initially as a quartet, before stabilizing as a trio with Yago Alcover, Pol Rodellar and Arnau Sanz. The early days were in a rougher, anglo-saxon register, documented by the 2008 demo and then by the 2009 album Mujeres, before a widening of their sound with Soft Gems in 2012 and Marathon in 2015. From Un Sentimiento Importante in 2017, Mujeres evolved its writing by switching to Spanish, without leaving this base of nervous guitars, frank refrains and tight rhythms that remains its signature. This new phase continues with Romance Romántico in 2019, Siento Muerte in 2020 and Desde Flores y Entrañas in 2023, in a style that brings garage pop closer to the codes of contemporary Spanish indie. Mujeres has also multiplied exchanges with the local scene, notably on the EP Rock y Amistad in 2021, made with Cariño, Carolina Durante, Los Punsetes and Nueva Vulcano, which places the group well within an active network of Spanish formations between venues, festivals and independent circuits.
