Man with a Mission

Formed in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 2010, MAN WITH A MISSION brings together five Japanese musicians who perform masked under wolf heads — a visual identity quickly associated with a sound that mixes alternative rock, hard rock, nu metal, rap metal and touches of melodic hardcore. After a first EP, Welcome to the New World (2010), MAN WITH A MISSION released the album Man with a Mission in 2011, then followed with Mash Up the World (2012) and Tales of Purefly (2014), where the band established an effective formula based on alternating clean singing, rapped phrasing, massive guitars and very direct choruses. MAN WITH A MISSION’s trajectory spans major Japanese stages — from Summer Sonic to Fuji Rock and Punkspring — as well as tours in Europe and North America. Several tracks have accompanied anime, films or video games, notably “Database”, “Seven Deadly Sins”, “Raise Your Flag”, “Dark Crow” and “Merry-Go-Round”. The band has also undertaken occasional collaborations with Zebrahead, Takuma of 10-FEET, Patrick Stump, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and milet. Their studio discography also includes The World’s On Fire (2016), Chasing the Horizon (2018), Break and Cross the Walls I (2021) and Break and Cross the Walls II (2022).
