Mija

Born Amber Giles in Arizona and initially active in Phoenix’s electronic scene, Mija has, since the mid-2010s, built a career that spans North American festivals, clubs and more personal projects before settling in Berlin. Her profile began to spread widely after an appearance at Bonnaroo in 2014 alongside Skrillex, an episode that accompanied her emergence in the American EDM world. Mija quickly broadened her scope by moving beyond bass music to explore house, techno, electro-pop and hybrid formats between DJ sets and vocal productions. In 2016 the Fk A Genre tour signaled her determination not to be confined to a single aesthetic. In her recent productions Mija has focused more on a club-oriented side grounded in hardgroove and techno, with fast tempos, structures marked by house and disco, funk touches and a rave heritage nourished by eurodance and hardcore sounds. Mija also develops independent activity through Never B Alone, a label conceived as a collaborative framework for new releases.
