Michel de Hey

Born in Rijswijk, Netherlands, Michel de Hey established himself on the Dutch electronic scene from the early 1990s with a repertoire that sits between techno, house and more minimal grooves, adopting a direct approach to the dancefloor. He has developed a precise, flexible sound built on dry rhythms, mobile basslines and a club tension that avoids showy effects. Initially identified within the Dutch context, notably around Rotterdam, he later expanded his activity to a European circuit of clubs and festivals while working as a producer and curator through his labels EC Records and later HEY! Records. His trajectory also includes mix and compilation formats as well as releases under his own name, with notable collaborations with Secret Cinema. Over the years Michel de Hey has maintained a coherent line—between functional techno, taut house and deeper variations—which explains his lasting presence in electronic music programming.
