Margaret Glaspy

Born in Sacramento and raised in Red Bluff, California, Margaret Glaspy first trained on fiddle before turning to guitar, spending time in Boston and at Berklee before settling in New York in the early 2010s. As a singer-songwriter she develops a melodic indie-rock writing style threaded with pop, folk and a subtle blues tension, marked by forthright vocals and prominent guitar work. After the EPs Homeschool (2012) and If & When (2013), she signed to ATO Records and released her self-produced debut Emotions and Math in 2016, which established her format of concise songs and spare arrangements. In 2018 she issued the EP Born Yesterday, followed by Devotion in 2020—where she broadened her palette toward smoother, denser pop-rock—and Echo the Diamond in 2023, which returned to a more stripped-back approach. Active on the Boston and later New York scenes, she also contributed to Jayme Stone’s project around the Lomax archives and toured North America with Neko Case and Kimya Dawson.
