Johnny Reid
Born in Lanark, Scotland, in 1980, Johnny Reid moved as a teenager to Brampton, Ontario, and built a career in Canada that sits between contemporary country, adult pop and soul. After early records Another Day, Another Dime (1997) and Born to Roll (2002), he broadened his audience with Kicking Stones in 2007, then developed his songwriting on Dance with Me (2009) and A Place Called Love (2010). His music blends modern country structures with an approach marked by gospel, rhythm and blues and pop songwriting, placing emphasis on ballads, mid-tempos and melodic choruses. Subsequent releases, notably Fire It Up (2012), What Love Is All About (2015) and Revival (2017), extend this move toward a fuller sound while retaining his country roots. Alongside his performing career, Johnny Reid writes songs for other artists and plays country stages, general venues and festivals, in a register that remains centered on voice, songwriting and accessible production.
