Kerri Chandler
Originally from East Orange, New Jersey, Kerri Chandler developed his approach to house music through the local soul, disco and garage scene, influenced by a father who worked as a DJ in New York clubs. In the early 1990s his first deep house and garage house productions appeared on labels such as Atlantic and King Street Sounds, characterized by warm basslines, keyboard chords and soulful vocals. Firmly established on the club circuit, he has held residencies and performs regularly across the United States and Europe, at venues like Zanzibar in Newark, the Rex Club in Paris and Watergate in Berlin. Alongside his DJ tours, he has shaped his producer work around his label Madhouse Records, founded in the early 1990s, and later the Kaoz Theory project, which have allowed him to release his own tracks and collaborate with a new generation of house producers. His album Hemisphere (1996) affirmed an aesthetic blending jazz, funk and gospel influences, which was continued on Computer Games (2008), where he developed a sound that is both melodic and rhythmically pronounced, still rooted in the house tradition of the US East Coast club scene.
