Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith

Born in the northwestern United States and raised on Orcas Island in Washington state, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith initially studied composition and sound engineering at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she also performed in the indie-folk duo Ever Isles. She later shifted her focus to electronic music centered on synthesizers, voice, and forms adjacent to ambient, new age, psychedelic pop and minimalism. Based in Los Angeles, Smith has, since the early 2010s, developed a compositional approach defined by shifting textures, repetitive motifs and organic timbres. After the self-releases Cows Will Eat the Weeds and Useful Trees in 2012, she issued Tides (2014), Euclid (2015), Ears (2016) and The Kid (2017), which marked her emergence on experimental and electronic stages. She has also collaborated with Suzanne Ciani on Sunergy (2016) and with Emile Mosseri on I Could Be Your Dog (Prequel) (2021). Her discography also includes The Mosaic of Transformation (2020), Let’s Turn It into Sound (2022) and Gush (2025), alongside work for visual media and remixes.
