Hannah Cohen
Born in San Francisco in 1986, Hannah Cohen grew up surrounded by music and books before moving to New York at a young age, where she became involved in the local scene and worked at the Village Vanguard. Cohen developed a singer-songwriter approach that blends folk, chamber pop and soft rock with psychedelic hues; melodies remain central and the arrangements are often understated. Her debut album, Child Bride, was released in 2012 on Bella Union, produced by Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) and featuring a circle of New York musicians including Sam Amidon and Rob Moose. She followed with Pleasure Boy in 2015 and Welcome Home in 2019, the latter produced by Sam Owens, also known as Sam Evian. From record to record she retains a folk-pop core while expanding her palette toward more organic textures and a broader songwriting approach. In 2025 she released Earthstar Mountain, recorded at Flying Cloud studio, which she shared with Sam Owens.
